Lexington used to be home away from home. We had a large group of friends that felt more like family. Well slowly everyone has began to leave Lex and everyone it seems is migrating to Nashville. Seriously, Nashville is the new Lexington for us. This weekend was our friend Wes' birthday. His girlfriend lives in Nashville and was throwing him a surprise birthday party so we had to make the trip! Chase and I both managed to get out of work at noon and headed to Nashville! It was the Music City Marathon so they city was full of people! We did some shopping at the newly re-opened Opry Mills and some cute little boutiques. I tried to hit Courtney's recommendations, but time was not on my side! I have to go back. I did go to Blush, however, which is a must visit in my opinion!
I love Nashville also because it is so close to my home, only about an hour and a half! So I very opportunistically planned a little surprise trip home for Saturday. I got up at 5:30 a.m. and snuck home! I am terrible at surprising people because I can't keep the secret, but since this was last minute, I thought I could do it. I knocked on my sister's door at 8:00 a.m. Their dog Maddy started barking, and she came running in the den with only her shorts on to quiet Maddy down. She had no idea that she was barking because someone was at the door. It was hilarious. My brother yelled from the bedroom and she said, "It's Tay!" Then we could hear Deacon in his crib say, "Tay?" So sweet!
Our church sponsored a Community Family Fun Day with inflatables, games, and lunch. My brother's band also provided music and a blessing to everyone who attended, in my unbiased opinion! Tons of families attended and I was so thankful to be home and be able to be apart of it. All of that family fun wore us out, Deac and I had to dip out and take a little snooze.
After church and lunch yesterday I headed back to Nashville! (I know, I was quite the traveler) to pick Chase back up. I squeezed in a little more shopping and we had dinner with our friends. After dinner they took us to Love Circle Park to the highest point in the city. It was very neat!
Bromance :)
It was a perfect weekend. We squeezed everything we could into our last weekend in April,
except sleep! That's what good weekends are made of, right? My alarm came way too early this morning. I hope you all had a great weekend :) Can you believe tomorrow is May? Crazy to me!
