High Five for Friday

1. Birthday Boy
Today is my BIL's birthday! He is the big brother I never had, and the best dad and hubby. We are so lucky to have him. He makes me a very proud little sister!  Deacon will be 2 in a little over a month, I could just die!

2. Shrimp Boils
Obviously we are having the classiest, most sophisticated, southern birthday party to celebrate D's 29 years, aka a shrimp boil, this weekend. If you aren't accustomed to a shrimp boil, basically (to my knowledge)you just boil shrimp, potatoes, and corn on the cob, and then you just put in all out on the table and you eat with your hands? Classy, I told you! I am not a big seafood lover, so I will likely sit by Deacon where him and his friends will be dining on McNuggets :)

Just because we are not using plates or utensils, does not mean we aren't decorating! Yes, we are aware they are in fact lobsters and not shrimp, but they are festive. We don't like to get hung up on minor details ;)

3. Dancing Dates.
Tonight we are attending a Night on Bourbon Street, a charity event for the Alzheimer's Association.  I am so excited for an excuse to wear this dress.

4. Sun Hats
Seriously, it pains me to reveal to y'all my level of excitement over sun hats. About a millisecond ago, if you would have asked me if I would've been caught dead in a wide brimmed hat, it would've taken me less than a millisecond to answer with an affirmative, no! But alas, here I am, older and wiser, and a lover of these little gems. I bought my black one last year at the outlet and I was obsessed with it all summer. I mean it's so practical for reading and for that point when your face needs a break from the sun. (You know somewhere between sun-kissed and scorched.) My black one is all deformed from its time in a suitcase and needed to be replaced! I am not however, stylish enough to be running around in a wide-brimmed straw hat whenever I so see fit, I do believe in the following rule. Unless of course you're vacationing in a foreign country or summering in the Hamptons and in those cases I feel you can sport a sun hat whenever you dang well please!

5. Wedding Invitations
I stole this picture from Courtney's blog because I forgot to take a picture of mine before I left the house this morning! Mine is much sweeter, with a little post-it, which will forever stay on it. I went to a different university my freshman year and was in the same sorority as Courtney, but out paths never really crossed. Now here we are four hours apart, 2 blogs, and 2 years later and I would consider her one of my nearest and dearest! If only we had known that we were the same person when we lived in the same town :( Seriously though, how weird is life? And seriously, how stunning are these invitations? I know you're jealous one didn't come to your mailbox!
