When we headed out for the weekend we knew we headed to a suburb of Atlanta called Stone Mountain where Atlantafest would be held. To us this just meant we would have a 20 minute commute to shopping and attractions in the city. We also knew the park where the concert was to be held had things to do so we could play there on Friday before Derek played. We had NO idea how much fun it would be. We are not park go-ers, not amusement parks, not state parks, not theme parks. We are beach-goers, we are shoppers, we are a lot of things but not park-goers.
When we arrived we did our most activities, swimming and shopping. We are shoppers and swimmers!
Melt me heart :)
Friday we headed to Stone Mountain, hoping there was enough to entertain us for the day. This little park was the sweetest thing and we completely underestimated it. There was SO many precious activities for kids and 25 year olds alike. Chase could have arguably had the most fun. The first thing we did was ride the sky lift to the top of the mountain. Chase and the babies. Be still my heart.
The whole family!
Then we "Rode the Duck" a military vehicle that can drive on both land and water. It was so neat. They can you little duck callers. It was hilarious. The sweet driver let all the kids drive and it was so neat to see the park from the water.
They had a little 4-D movie.
And a train!
Then for the obvious main event! They did amazing and Deacon was so proud of his daddy. He kept saying, "That's my dad up there." It was an incredible experience. They are incredible. Like them on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/officialrisingband
I am partial to the guitarist/keyboard player :) I am so proud of him!
Saturday we went to the Georgia Aquarium and it was also incredible. He melts my heart!
It was a wonderful long weekend and a a great reminder how fun little trips like it can be. Chase always comments on my tendencies to play it safe on food and travel choices. I always order the same things because I hate when you order something and you hate it and then there you sit in a restaurant you love thinking how wonderful what you always order would be tasting had you not tried to be a rebel. I also hate that feeling when you go on vacation and we wish we would've just went to Destin. (We love that little piece of the panhandle, don't even get me started!) Anyway, this was a reminder to try things and be a little more open to these little adventures!
